FLU SHOT INFORMATION
Dear Lincoln Internal Medicine Patients,
We want to make you aware of an important change in the classification of prescription products that contain Hydrocodone. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is requiring that all prescription products containing the active ingredient Hydrocodone be reclassified from a Schedule III to a stricter Schedule II Controlled Substance. This change took affect October 6, 2014.
What products are affected?
There are several hundred brand name and generic Hydrocodone products such as Vicodin, Lortab, and Vicoprofen, as well as liquid cough suppressants such as Hycodan, Mycodone, Tussionix, Pennkinetic, and Tussigon.
What does this mean for you?
As of October 6, 2014, doctors are only allowed to prescribe in 30 day increments any medication containing Hydrocodone. Your doctor can no longer fax or phone in these prescriptions to the pharmacy due to DEA regulations.
What do you need to do?
Beginning October 6th, 2014 you will need new prescriptions for any Hydorcodone containing product and you will need to ask us for one. It must be either hand delivered or mailed in so please be sure and give us adequate time for this process to work to your needs. Even if you have prescriptions with refills it is still advisable to get new ones from us in case the pharmacy you use refuses to refill your old prescriptions.
